Wow that is a LOT of jackfruit on one tree! Tricky to clean and cut due to the latex. We use coconut oil for this job! Did you know you can cook the seeds and eat them? Taste is like potatoes and chestnuts mixed together.

Oh yes! We eat the seeds too. And both the raw (cooked) and ripe versions. In some parts it is also called the tree meat – for it is cooked in the same way and tastes somilar too πWe use mustard oil to ward off the sticky stuff. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

They look very heavy as if they are falling any minute! But then it also mean that they are fully ripe. Wow! Yum yum!

Yeah they are heavy! But they arent ripe as yet, still a month to go – as they say in these parts ‘hot enough to ripen mangoes and jackfruits’ Thanks for your comment π

I’ve never had it. How does it taste in compare to the closest taste of fruit?

Ah that’s a tough question! It is squishy and pulpy. Actually there are two varieties of the fruit pods. One is small, fibrous, soft, mushy and terribly sweet. If one is not careful while eating this, it can slip down the throat and cause choking. I prefer the other variety which is crisp and chewy and is also less sweet. Appreciate your interest Miriam :). btw there appears to be some issue in my accessing your blog π¦

I have been dealing with it all week. My old link is dead. There are two ways to receive my posts, one is click my new link and click follow, or go to your Reader, add my new link to your “blog followed” and click follow. then my posts will show up. I would say 50% of my regular friends can’t find me. I have to find them and tell them what happened. Here is the new link: https://theshowerofblessings.wordpress.com
Hoe this works,thank you, Dahlia!

The follow button is on my new link’s right sidebar all the way to the bottom. Perhaps I should move to near the top.

I’ve never had Jackfruit — in fact, until recently, I had not heard of it. Last week when I was in the grocery store — I saw a display of them, and they were huge. Thank you for sharing!

My mouth is watering. I love Jackfruit. Have never eaten as a cooked vegetable. Our local grocer sells the small cooking fruit.

The cooked veggie is delicious – maybe you could try it someday. π Dont forget to smear your hands and knife with mustard oil! π
