Bugged

Words 98

Sakshi hesitated outside.

The prospective groom and his family were inside.

Was she fair? Tall?

Slim?

Could she sing and dance? Cook. Knit. Run?

Perhaps she should run.

She would have, if only Rohan had come through.

But he had chickened out.

“Sorry,” he had mumbled. “I can’t break my mother’s heart. But I will always love you.”

“Sakshi!” Her mother pulled her in. “Meet Lata, my childhood friend. It was our dream to see our children marry.”

Sakshi stilled.

“My prayers are answered,” Rohan whispered as Sakshi was led towards him.

“So are mine.”

Sakshi walked away.

  1. That’s a beautiful bug… the riot of colours on its body make such a contrast to the background… standing apart, in the same way as your protagonist. What a befitting reply…. bravo!!!!

  2. Did I misunderstand? She walks away. I interpret that to mean that, though she has got her love, she doesn’t forgive him for his cowardice (which is a much more complex ending than their wishes being met)

      1. Ah no I am not participating this year. Too tied up as it is. But I do try to post at least 5 -6 times a week. Pretty much A to Z 😊 Thanks for asking!
