FF: Summer Plans
Words 100
βHow about a long relaxed vacation at a log cabin in the hills?β Dad asked.
βWow! Will there be any snow?β Rhea asked.
βYes. If you are willing to trek.β
βGreat.β Shreyas lit up.
βWonβt it be crowded in the summer?β Mom was doubtful
βNot at all.β Dad beamed. βItβs far from the madding crowd.β
βMeaning I will have to cook.β
βI will cook. We all will.β
βAs if.β Mom snorted. βAll of you will sit with your phonesβ¦.β
βOh thereβs no phone or internet connection there.β
βWhat? Count me out.β Shreyas stood up.
βMe too.β Rhea said. βSorry Dad.β

So would you be willing to go for a vacation to such a place? Do let me know! Have a super day and week ahead.
Good Morning. Whenever I checked in a hotel, first thing I used to do was turn on the TV .Now a days it is my smart phone. But I can live without it. Depends on where I am.

Lovely story. As soon as she heard that the place is away from the maddening world, mum knows she has to cook.
Kids are kids. They can’t live without phones.
I can live without a phone. The one I have is always on silent mode. so obviously I miss all the calls even when the phone is right next to me.π
Cheers..

Exactly my thoughts too. I can go so long as I am reachable by some means or the other. As for the rest, one can always download netflix movies in advance π

Nowadays Kids can be without food and water but not without a phone. It has become a must and necessary in their lives and loved the story Dhalia.

Log cabin in the woods? No phone or internet? Maybe leave the kids at home with the grandparents and have a nice parents’ retreat. A tale of our times.

Does the question apply to laptops, too???
My husband says I need a harness so I can wear my Mac around my neck!
I could live without talking to anyone on the phone but it would be hard not to be able to write.
I’ll have to get back to you, Dahlia!

I have to agree with you! I do carry pen and paper but it isn’t as good. But then again there’s hardly a spare moment on a vacation π

Ha ha – no phones. I’ve just started a book in which the kids bail for the same reason. It cost them big time.

Ha! Poor Dad. Yes, I can do without wifi/internet, as long as I’ve downloaded all my books to kindle first, which is usually not a problem. π

Ah yes Kindle is the best invention – carry my library wherever I go. Thanks Sascha π

I would love to go on a vacation like that, with no internet connection, but I can see where the kids would balk at it. I would still like to have some kind of emergency way to contact someone in case of emergency, but only for an emergency.

You are so right! Actually, my husband and I had booked at a place where we later realized had no connection. It was a gorgeous retreat, but after a sleepless night, I canceled it, imagining our son not being able to contact us or vice versa π

It can be a scary situation to go into, but once there, a few days without phones can be nice. Until you have to look up something. Or text. Or post. Or… π±
