The Merry-go-round of Life

Words 100

Starry-eyed, she clung to his arm, looking this way and that.

β€œThat one!” She pointed. β€œAnd that. And…”

Seeing her excitement, he couldn’t help but laugh. β€œWhatever. I am game. But be sure about your choices. Don’t do something you might regret later.”

But she shrugged off his words of caution. Everything was so new and tempting. She didn’t want to miss any of it.

Half-way through, dizziness set in and she wanted out. β€œStop it.” She pleaded. β€œI want to get off.”

β€œBut darling,” his voice was a soft whisper, β€œI thought you knew. This is a one-way ride.”

  1. I like the progression from sensory overload, exhaustion, and helplessness, ready to learn hard lessons. Good title for a great metaphor. I felt a menacing air about him, like he might have set her up in some way, ready to step in when she was at her weakest.
