FF: Of Choices
Words 100
“Stay here for a bit.” She instructed and vanished.
Devika didn’t even notice that she was alone.
Red!
Blue!
Green!
The rectangular ones?
But the square yellow ones were the most sought after.
What about those on the topmost shelf?
Dare she climb that high?
What if she fell off and hurt herself?
Perhaps the nearest ones would be safest.
Yet, the pink ones tugged at her heart.
She looked around wishing, wanting, dithering until she was dizzy.
“Dear Mother,” she folded her hands, “give me what You think is best for me and let me be content in that.”

Thanks for dropping by. Have a super day 🙂
When will we learn to be happy and content with what we got?
Good one!
Cheers..

The agony of choice was exactly what came to mind when I saw this photo. I like what you did with it; your character was sensible in her final decision.

I hope the mother knows what her daughter likes. I love going to the sweet shops but I always end up buying PEZ. The magazine shops or grocery shops have a shelf full of one a penny or two a penny sweets for the kids accompanying the adults. I remember one time my seven year old nephew had 50p to spend on buying sweets. So he stood at the counter and was working out how many 1penny ,2 penny and 5penny sweets he can buy. He spent the whole 50p buying different sweets , unlike his older brother who would buy anything he wants and expect me to pay for them.

When we have so many choices in front of us it is difficult to select one because we always think the other will be better than the one we selected that is the state of the little girl here but was glad she took the right decision of asking her mother to choose for her thinking she will do the best for her.
Loved it
Thanks

Sometimes ( if not always), it is best to leave it to the Almighty 🙂 Thanks Chinnulu

Sometimes it’s not so good to have so many choices available. She did the right thing there. Cute story.

My first thoughts when I saw the photo was of the amount of candy on display.
I think I’d have a difficult time choosing as well. A perfect account of what happens
when we have too many choices. Well done …

Abandoned in a Candy Store might be someone’s dream situation. I am sure she’ll realise soon.

That she chooses to defer to her mother’s choice shows maturity beyond her years. She could more than get dizzy if she were made to pick herself!

There seems to be an underlying sadness to this story. Her mother wasn’t there to help her and she didn’t even realize it. Well done!

Dahlia, A very creative and sobering spin on the image. I kind of feel bad for Devika. Maybe the family has no means for her to have even one piece of candy. Good as a metaphor.

Dear Dahlia,
Hopefully Mother will make a choice the girl is happy with. Sounds like she will. 😉 Sweet story.

Loved the last line, Dahlia. There are times when it’s best to ask for help when we really need it and there are times when it’s best to make our own choices.

Sometimes, asking for help is the best way to make a decision. Sometimes, you just have to close your eyes and point.
