Full Moon
Words 102
“Why are you packing?”
“I’ve had enough.”
“But why? You know I love you!”
“Love?”
“Yes. A thousand times yes. My love for you shines brighter than the moon.”
“That I agree.”
“Then…?”
“Your love lives off my love. No wonder it’s fickle and ever-changing.”
“Don’t say that!”
“Why not? It’s the bitter truth unlike your sweet lies. Your game is up for I can see through your fake protestations of undying avowals of love.”
“Don’t be so mean. My love for you is pure!”
“The only thing pure about you is the darkness of your soul.” He picked up his bag.

Written (after an eon and this one too almost slipped out – or perhaps it would have been better if it had missed the bus) for the Friday Fictioneers – a story in 100 words or less. Thanks to Rochelle for hosting the challenge and Gah Learner for the photo prompt. To read the other stories inspired by this prompt click here.
Some people are good at coverung every lies, but no matter how hard they try to cover, the moment it slipped everything us out.

It is sad when a relationship ends, but it looks bleak for this pair. I really enjoyed the dialogue

All a pretense. Life itself is. People pretend and have as many facets. Darker the soul, brighter the other side, Can we say and see?. Until we live and see, You may not.
One realised better to get rid of. Practicality.
Loved it.

These two clearly don’t have a future together. An interesting dialogue that carries almost all of the story.

Excellent dialogue! I don’t think I can say “fake protestations of undying avowals of love” without getting tongue-twisted. 😉

Hahah – I suppose not but then in his defense (or mine!) he was an English teacher by profession 😀 😀 I remember in school we had been up to some mischief and the vice principal (also the English teacher).

So THAT’S where you got your inspiration from (the vice principal). 😉

If not consciously definitely sub-consciously! It has been decades since school but i often remember that tongue lashing with awe 😀

Oh my, I think its best if the relationship ends before they get in too deep.
You created a well-executed conversation between the two.
All endings are sad, even the ones that must end.
Nicely done …
