Double Standards
Words 100
“Did your parents agree to our wedding?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“They were skeptical about the morals of a girl who was living in.”
“Didn’t you tell them you insisted?”
“Even if I did, it wouldn’t make any difference.”
“Why not?”
“How could you give in to my demands?”
“I love you. I cannot refuse you anything.”
“If you can’t stand up to me, how will you stand up to the world?”
“Don’t you love me?”
“I do.”
“Then?”
“I cannot go against my parents’ wishes.”
“If you cannot stand up to them, you don’t deserve to stand by my side.”

I hate that guy!! 😒
I think she broke up with him rather than he with her. She deserved someone better. Not a coward like him.

I have witnessed it often. But it is true that if the individual listens to the parents rather than their own heart, perhaps they do not “deserve” to be in the relationship.

Dear Dahlia,
I’m with Liz. She deserves better than this little weenie. The dialogue tells the story. Good job.

Talk about a Mama’s Boy. Maybe he should just have Mom & Dad pick his dates if he’s worried about living up their standards. Or, he could just live at home until they both pass away.

That’s exactly what he does 😀 Thanks for reading.

She can definitely do better. Obviously she is not the meek-minded good little girl who has no backbone. She has to be with a real man who wants to stand by a real woman!

Well done. I definitely got a sense of both speakers; the past between them and the future. Which doesn’t look so good. Great take.
