She woke with a feeling of being trapped.

A heart attack?

Whom could she call at this hour of the night?

An ambulance?

But somebody would be needed for the paperwork.

How had she been reduced to this?

Once surrounded by a full family, today, there was no one.

β€œDear God, is there not a single person who is mine? Am I that bad?”

A blinding light enfolded her even as a voice boomed.

Even in this life you didn’t learn what I sent you here for – no one belongs to you. You belong to none. You belong to Light.

  1. In some forms of Judaism, it is believed each of us is a shard of light from the Divine sent here to uncover other pieces of light so we may illuminate the world. When we die, our unique spark rises to rejoin the Divine creator.

    1. How lovely. Thank you for sharing this James. In Hinduism too there is a similar concept. Advaita, meaning “non-dualism” or “not two,” is a Hindu philosophical concept in the Vedanta, that emphasizes the oneness of reality.
