Friends Forever

Words 101

“Here comes Her Highness.” Trishna muttered as Sapna floated down to join them.

Sapna stuck out her tongue.

“Enjoy your last day as Queen,” Prakriti said maliciously.

“Excuse me?” Sapna frowned.

“Maya’s coming.” Trishna burst out. “With fresh gossip.”

Sapna flickered and then rallied. “She must be ancient!”

“Remember how vain she was of her looks?” Layla’s husky murmur was still a killer.

“A bad hair day saved her from the car crash.” Leena rued.

“I wonder if she has any hair left?” Trishna patted her flowing tresses.

“I can’t wait to see her as a doddering ghost.” Sapna said gleefully.

  1. Dear Dahlia,

In the southern United States you can say any manner of nasty things about someone as long as you follow it with, “bless her heart.” ..ie “She’s uglier than the back of a donkey, bless her heart.” 😉 Your title is perfect and offsets the gossip and nattering of these ‘friends.’ Well done.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  2. Why do so-called friends are not happy that they are well and able to meet up? Instead, here they are criticising an absent friend and making snide remarks about her looks. Some friends!!. Gossiping is good as long as we do not harm or upset anyone.
    Good Morning(almost midday) Dahlia.

  3. I love the accuracy with which you describe the dynamics of the group. You are also very subtle in the way you mention the car crash, leaving us to infer that Maya was not in the car when the other five perished. Excellent writing; excellent story, Dahlia!

  4. This is wonderful. Such great dialogue and the slow revelation that they are ghosts waiting for the latest addition of their circle of friends.

  5. The rest ganging up against one ancient, doddering ghost ….but yet waiting to welcome the fresh gossip and to hand over the baton 😅… I can already see Sapna ruling over them 😂😜
    Good one…
